My Home Design in the Litchfield Hills

This 2 year project involved taking on some tough terrain and carving out our spot. We have lived in a mid century in Roxbury, saved a 1962 Breuer style home in Washington and recently found a new spot in the hills. We have called Litchfield County, CT home for over 12 years. I love working for clients and saving vintage homes, but it was too tempting to try to design my very own place from start to finish. To do this, I set about finding a prefab company that already had Scandinavian modern roots and was brave enough to let me design my home. I designed it from the window sizes, placement, to door locations, flow, courtyard....and they made that design into a 2500 sq ft prefab using 2x6 construction and some engineering! Ceilings run from 14-10' and make the bathrooms and closets feel huge. I used the tops of the closets and had fun with the ceiling height. Spray foam and insulation, ledge, and some design elements that capitalize on the sun or shade all help. Build Ludo loved the design so much that this model will be for sale, we pushed prefab into a more custom feel. It feels like an architect built home not a prefab

.
